Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center - Sloan Engineering Center, Warren, MI, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
You will lead the Fire Prevention and Protection and Emergency Response activities for all GM sites. You will help to assures that all General Motors sites are following federal, state, and local laws pertaining to Fire Protection and Emergency Response. Some of the responsibilities include:
What You'll Do
Provides strategic direction, quality assurance and subject matter expertise for General Motors for Fire Prevention and Protection and Emergency Response.
Maintains and develops GM Fire Prevention and Protection and Emergency Response standards and supporting material for global sites.
Focuses on lithium-ion and other new technologies to ensure compliance with changing requirements.
Maintains and develops Tabletop Exercise training materials and scenarios.
Regularly reviews and updates Emergency Response Center of Expertise documentation, including the emergency response plan templates used by global sites.
Provides technical expertise and subject matter guidance by assisting and supporting GM and supplier personnel to ensure compliance with General Motors standards for building fire protection design, installation, and demolition.
Supports development and coordination of strategic goals and objectives relevant to fire prevention & protection and emergency response.
Facilitates resolution of conflicts arising from the tactical implementation of GM/Supplier strategic goals and objectives as they affect fire prevention & protection and emergency response.
Facilitates resolution of non-compliance issues
Liaises with the following GM stakeholders to interpret or resolve conflicts pertaining to standards or policy interpretations:

Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or related
A minimum of 10 years experience in the Fire Prevention and Protection consulting engineering and problem solving.
A minimum of 5 years experience managing a global team.
Experience in developing and conducting Tabletop Exercises and Emergency Response standards.
Familiarity with industrial fire protection and emergency response operations.
Excellent planning and organizing skills.
Strong negotiating skills.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
Proven experience in performing the following:
Assessing fire protection requirementsInterpreting local laws, regulations and codes including National Fire Protection Association Codes, Factory Mutual Data Sheets, and the International Fire Code.Reviewing building and site plans, fire suppression and detection systems Performing engineering computations (hydraulic calculations)Experience in writing technical proceduresGM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
