Fire Protection Engineer
Insight Global is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to serve as an Owner's Representative supporting construction projects in Washington, DC. In this role, you will provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with fire protection and life safety standards throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as a key liaison between stakeholders, you will review designs, conduct site inspections and coordinate with General Contractors to uphold federal regulations and best practices. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile government construction initiative while ensuring highest standards of fire saftey and code adherence. Supporting the Architect of the Capitol, this position offers also offers the unique opportunity to work on some the most historic and iconic buildings in the nation.



* Assist in reviewing fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems and performing analysis of existing fire protection systems.

* Interpret and apply applicable NFPA Standards, International Building Code (IBC), and other applicable codes and standards (Government Standards -- Unified Facilities Criteria, etc.).

* Ensure compliance with local and international fire safety codes and standards.

* Perform inspections and verify General Contractor has accurately preformed testing of fire protection systems.

* Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team.

* Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to fire safety.

* Participate in training and emergency response planning.

* Apply technical skills to design and assess the following: automatic suppression systems; fire detection, alarm, and mass notification systems; fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; smoke control design and special inspections; site surveys and inspections; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.

* Perform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations.

* Develop engineering judgements for code alternatives.

* Provide peer reviews of General Contractors work.

* Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems.

* Implements the Company Procedures while seeking improvements to work process and design/engineering approaches.

* Comply with all safety policies.
