The BOBPM Fire Protection Engineer will have primary responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring the overall fire prevention and response program. This roll will provide oversite into the development of the following: prevention of fire, rescue operations, hazardous chemical response, medical response, and protection of life and property. The candidate will act as a supervisor and will assign duties to emergency response team members. Candidate attends instruction sessions concerning firefighting methods, equipment operation, first aid, and rescue operations.
You'll have…
Bachelor's degree, or an associate degree in a Fire Science or an EMS curriculum preferred, and extensive experience in emergency response operations.Technically proficient in understanding, interpreting, and applying NFPA and/or FM Global standards; and, evaluating fire protection systems (automatic sprinklers, special extinguishing systems, etc.)Experience with and ability to assess high hazard occupancies (flammable liquids, combustible dusts, etc.)Thorough knowledge of firefighting methods and equipment.Thorough knowledge of first aid and rescue techniques.Thorough knowledge of hazardous materials release response.Ability to function calmly and efficiently under conditions of great stress.Ability to react quickly in emergency situations and to exercise good judgment.Ideal candidate is self-sufficient, organized, and has good written and oral communication skillsPossess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or a basic commercial driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.Prior completion of state approved Firefighter I and II training preferred. What you'll do…
Develop, implement and oversee the local Emergency Response Team.Develop, implement and oversee fire safety plans per Ford Fire Protection Engineering Bulletins.Develop, implement and oversee the local Emergency Response Plan.Witness hydrant and fire pump flow tests, perform / participate in functional tests for sprinkler systems, and ensure preventative maintenance testing is complete for all fire protection equipment.Organize, schedule, conduct drills and training for emergency response operations.Coordinate Emergency Response activities with Local Community EMS (Fire and Police).Provide technical support and guidance in the areas of fire protection, fire alarm response, rescue operations, and general loss prevention. Problem solving using the application of Company Standards, NFPA, FM Global or other standard methodologies to address technical fire protection issues.Perform reviews of fire sprinkler systems, water supply systems, fire alarm systems and provide documented findings to ensure compliance with applicable standards.Act as incident command and prepare written reports and/or presentations detailing findings for emergency response operations.Oversee site wide training relating to Emergency Response Support construction and new manufacturing projects to ensure necessary fire protection standards are met.Interface with Ford Motor Company Corporate Fire, Safety, and Security teams
