SUMMARY

Performs routine regulatory inspections for all fire and rescue equipment at Kenai Refinery and Logistics assets, along with responding to emergency fire, rescue and medical needs and be on-call for off duty response as needed.  Ensures compliance with NFPA regulations, Marathon standards and recommended industry practices with emergency response capabilities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, SCBA’s, apparatus operations, bunker gear and assist with monthly training of Fire Brigade membersAssists with annual fixed firewater system testing and repair, foam sampling, fire extinguisher inspection and hydro-testing, and SCOTT respiratory flow testing.Participate in annual Corporate Fire School or off-site Live Fire Training to meet NFPA 1081 requirementsObtain and response to HazMat spills at a HazMat Technician Level – Training will be providedRespond to Confined Space Rescue situations as necessary.Participate as an active member of the Marathon Fire Brigade, when responding to live fire, leaks, spills or other emergency situations.Assists with training new hires, annual refresher for operations HazMat Operations Level, Annual Fire Extinguisher training.Assist in developing and signoff on confined space entry pre-plans, along with standby as needed to support confined space work in the field.Assist in developing pre-fire plans for potential tank fire scenarios at the Refinery and Logistics assets.

REQUIREMENTS

Must have current State of Alaska Emergency Medical Technician I Certification or higher (Paramedic preferred)Alaska Fire Fighter 1 certification, meeting NFPA 1001 requirementsMust be able to obtain a current Alaska State Driver’s LicenseMust be able to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)Must be able to pass initial medical screening and fit testing, as well as participate in annual medical surveillance program, as requiredMust be a current member of a local fire department (NFD, KFD, CES).

EDUCATION

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 1-3 years firefighter experience required (hourly wage will be based on candidate experience level, capability and level of qualification)

SPECIAL SKILLS

Must have physical ability to perform essential job functions of an emergency responder which includes ability to climb stairs, columns, etc. and enter tight and confined spaces including 18” vessel openings.Working knowledge of fire engine water pump and foam pump operationsExperience with fixed firewater system testing and repairs (preferred)Must be able to respond on-call for off hours, as necessary.

Pay & Benefits
