SUMMARY

 

The Fire System Tech will be responsible for the fire system and maintenance activities for the Fire system and all its needs. The Fire System Tech is responsible for maintenance functions within the fire system, including installation, repair, troubleshooting, daily PMs, and repair procedures. The Fire System Tech will help train those in the department in fire system needs. The Fire System Tech will also be assigned project work within the fire system as needed.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE

 

Appropriates and approves authorized budgeted amounts for maintenance activities.

Authority to start and stop equipment in the factory for maintenance or repairs.

Authority to enforce McCain policies and procedures.

Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.

Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes and adheres to company safety rules and regulations; Works in a safe manner and utilizes personal protective equipment and observes safety policies such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure personal safety; Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in practicing safety requirements and standards when working with hazardous chemicals, fire system equipment, and/or electrical systemsKnowledge of and demonstrated skill in equipment and system operations sufficient to lead others in providing required service and maintenanceMaintains active communication with vendors and audits to ensure all scheduling, paperwork, forms and compliance dates are being met, this will include following up on audit items to ensure systems are in full compliance with regulationsResolve problems using technical analysis and creativity Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity Perform welding functions, including Tig, Mig, Solder and Silver SolderMust work variable shifts as scheduled to achieve maintenance of fire systems and/or other maintenance activities within the Department.Performs PM and maintenance work as needed or directed by the utility manager to repair and adjust fire equipment, including but not limited to changing and replacing sprinkler heads, replacing piping, inspecting extinguishers, administering flow tests, completing riser inspections, and maintaining and repairing motors, fire pumps, etc. while following proper safety practicesSuccessfully complete fire system impairments, comply with all fire protection inspection requirements, including quarterly and yearly fire system checks and corresponding paperwork Assist with daily workload while carrying out instructions for the replacement of faulty mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components of machines and equipment related to this positionWork in a safe manner and utilize personal protective equipment and observes safety policies, such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure personal safetyDocument work and PMs, generate work orders in the computerized maintenance system (CMMS) detailing the events of the day and logging information about machine conditionCapable and knowledgeable in the process of fabricating small jobs, taking dimensions, layout design, able to cut and shear pieces, maintain square and weld joints and seams, and maintaining square while avoiding buckling of panels

 

Ability to weld and install pipeAssist in training plant personnel to ensure all personnel required to man or operate any emergency equipment related to the fire suppression system; are trained to include but not limited to fire techs, fryer operators, Supervision, and selected maintenance personnelEnsure annual review and updates are made to all Fire Safety related policies/ programsDevelop Compliance Plan to ensure all quarterly, annual, 5-year or other inspection required by NFPA, Local, State, or Federal Code of RegulationsAssist with all fire system checks that are required by the company to maintain the fire systems and participate in audits on the fire system as necessaryPerform basic electrical work on electrical panels and fire systems

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with demonstrated knowledge of fire system fundamentals and equipment. Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must be able to interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams and measuring instruments. Knowledge of safety codes and regulatory requirements, as well as a valid driver's license are required. Must possess the understanding and ability to identify system deficiency and evacuation procedures as required. 

 

 

 

Compensation Package: $29.85 -$45.37 USD hourly + bonus eligibility

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.

 

Shift Differential Pay: $.1.50 /hr
