This position will be responsible for providing Fire and Emergency Services, utilizing resources to accomplish operational requirements, and will report to the assigned Crew Chief. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Place of performance is on the USSF base on Ascension Island. Position is located on Ascension Island. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Serve as a structural, airport, and Haz-Mat (operations) responder on a scheduled rotation. Operates firefighting equipment such as pumps, foam generators, boom, and ground sweep nozzles to extinguish fires. Must be knowledgeable in auto extrication operations and victim/patient care. Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is fully operational. Must comply with Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Air Force Fire and Emergency Services Training Program (AF EMSTP), and AFI 32-2001 for all recurring certification and training requirements. Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved. Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is in operable condition. Participates in fire drills as scheduled. Attends training as required. Perform other duties as required. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Fire apparatus firefighting pumps Firefighting/Rescue equipment, to include but not limited to, air, hydraulic, and hand tools. Vehicle mounted and portable firefighting pumps. Mounted fire suppression systems (Dry Chemical) Attack lines and Master Streams Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Working Environment: Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Physical Activities: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies. Qualifications Education / Certifications: High School Diploma or GED, Firefighting School Graduate Desired Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS). Required Experience: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a minimum of one year experience at the duty position. Fire service certifications must be either DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Firefighter is required. A minimum of Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter (ARFF), Hazmat awareness and operations. A Valid CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. Must pass an entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582. Valid Driver License from country of origin. English proficiency rating by TOEFL or IELTS for Writing, Conversation, and Comprehension. Preferred Experience: DOD, IFSAC or ProBoard Apparatus Driver Mobile Water Supply ARFF vehicles Prior work experience in managing fire services in austere environments is highly desired. 2- and 4-year degrees are strongly preferred. Skills: Knowledge of fire protection mission and organization; fire safety requirements and objectives; firefighting and rescue procedures and techniques, firefighter training requirements, Knowledge of firefighting apparatus and equipment maintenance and operation, alarm and suppression system operation; water supplysystems; hazardous materials.
