I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Returns plant operating systems which fail to operational status in a timely manner.  If unable to do so, notifies Chief Engineer, Facility Director or the delegated individual.
2. Communicates fully with other firemen- all information pertaining to plant operations.
3. Responds immediately to customer emergencies and needs by telephone. 
4. Follows departmental on-call procedures for afterhours trouble calls.
5. Fills out Fireman/Maintenance trouble log completely and in a timely manner.
6. Follows verbal directions or written instructions from Chief Engineer or other firemen pertaining to plant operations.
7. Keeps self-informed of variations to the department by reviewing posted materials.
8. Performs required hourly rounds, taking accurate readings and responding to or notifying Chief Engineer or Facility Director of any substantial abnormalities.
9. Performs posted daily maintenance/housekeeping tasks.
10. Maintains necessary supplies and orders more as needed.
11. Assists in cleaning and preparing boilers for inspection.  
12. Adheres to preventative maintenance schedule utilizing the Custom Maintenance Software (CMS) work order system.
13. Assists Engineering with assembly, maintenance and repairs of various equipment.

1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

All responsibilities are essential job functions.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School Diploma
2. 2nd Class Fireman’s license 

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Previous (3-5 years) experience
2. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
3. Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English 

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
