The Firestop Applicator is responsible for installing firestop materials in new and existing commercial buildings to the required specifications designated by the material manufacturer.
Responsibilities:
Review and understand safety and its culture on the job siteCoordinate installation process at the job site (unload equipment, place hose in the location of installation, etc.).Use basic trade math fundamentals to assist the supervisor with costsInspection of firewalls per NFPA codeProviding accurate documentation for customers code complianceMaintain professional, timely, communication with customersReview and learn blueprinting; sketching, perspectives and terminologyDevelop an understanding of the relationship between cost, blueprinting reading, and material estimating
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must have at least 6 months of construction experience
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and use a tape measure, ability to read measurements off of a blueprint.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have form of dependable transportation; must be able to travel out of town, both on overnight and one-day trips.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands:
While working, the employee will use their hands and arms, stand, walk, and may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They may also occasionally sit, climb, or balance. The job involves lifting and moving objects up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally moving objects over 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
