Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Firmware Automated Test Engineer II to join the Data Center Power and Control Division in on-site in Reno, NV. Under the general direction of the Director of Firmware Engineering, the Firmware Automated Test Engineer II coordinates and executes the process for analyzing and testing firmware and software that runs in, or interacts with, our NET+OS and Linux-based Power Distribution Units (PDUs). The process involves creating and implementing testing methods (manual and automated), recording the test results, debugging issues in source code, and providing recommendations and source code changes to improve programs based on the results.

 

The Firmware Automated Test Engineer II also collaborates with organizational management to improve operations, utilizes programming languages to create testing scripts, documents software testing procedures and results, and interfaces with end users to resolve issues.

 

The Firmware Automated Test Engineer II, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, and integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

 

What Will You Do?

Install, configure, and test various software and hardware integrated systems.Create, maintain, set up, and execute test plans for all features of PDU firmware.Create and execute automated test scripts using testing software programs.Document and present test results and results analyses.Diagnose/troubleshoot and document unresolved problems.Assist in the root-cause determination of reported issues, including in source code, and submit changes to review and merge.Track bugs/problems/fixes within a software bug-tracking tool.Recommend program improvements or revisions to programmers and system analysts.Manage, configure, and maintain testing resources including the physical space, IP addresses, network, power, PDUs, and servers.Provide updates and information to Technical Support and customers to diagnose and resolve problems.Respond to inquiries from Technical Support and users regarding functions and operations of software programs.Assist the Technical Support team when there are PDU customer problems that they cannot resolve.Perform other job functions as assigned. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University with emphasis in Computer Science or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Experience creating scripts and using scripting languages such as Python.Management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, and Sales.Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills and the ability to work independently.Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/ Project); experience with Linux, virtualization platforms, Active Directory (LDAP), RADIUS, TACACS+, major web browsers, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, web APIs, TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, SMTP, SSL, FTP, SFTP, SSH, Serial Communications.Knowledge of working with a variety of networks and MIB browsers, ping, network, and other test tools.Knowledge of Bug Tracking Software.Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced, and priorities can shift quickly.
