Our client is seeking a Firmware Engineer. _Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance._ Rate: $65 - $75 / hr. w2 **Responsibilities:** + Work with the team to set quarterly departmental goals and metrics. + Experience with vehicle OBD and CAN stack. + Identify and evaluate potential partners for telematics solutions and opportunities that mitigate risk and align with the business. + Serve as the technical point of contact for multiple onshore manufacturing partners. + Experience with FCC, PTCRB, and UK/EU RF regulatory certification for connected devices. + Ability to architect hardware, firmware, and backend technologies to solve business problems. + Experience designing and developing end-to-end connected devices involving RF, Embedded, and IoT products. + Provide full lifecycle software development, including: + Requirements gathering + Design + Development + Testing + Production deployment + Documentation + Experience with technologies such as RFID, Wireless 3G/4G, and Bluetooth. + Ability to creatively solve both short-term and long-term business problems. + Technical experience with automotive-grade devices to ensure product safety. + Work with technicians on custom cables and manufacturing of cables and harnesses. + Manage test engineering for connected devices. + Secure buy-in from stakeholders within Zipcar. + Translate business requirements into technical requirements, and vice versa. + Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices for connected fleet management. + Provide support for existing in-production devices. **Experience Requirements:** + 8-10 years + of Embedded C/C++ Development. + EDUCATION: BSEE or Computer Sci + Telematics and or Onboard Diagnostics, or CAN BUS,. + Bluetooth and or Cellular. + background dealing with in vehicle devices. + Experience with Arm Core Processors. + RTOS + Oscilliscopes, Logic Analyzers + Track record of working closely with device manufacturing to deliver on schedule and budget. + Experience leading mechanical designs (preferable, but not required). _Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate.
