The DuPont Automotive business is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as First Line Leader (FLL) at the Automotive Adhesives & Fluid Unit in Midland, Michigan site. If you are looking for an exciting position on a great team, this role is for you!

The Midland Automotive Adhesives & Fluid Unit is a part of Michigan Operations, one of DuPont’s largest sites and home to manufacturing operations representing 3 of DuPont’s 4-businesses. The Midland Automotive Unit produces glass bonding primers and urethanes, brake fluids, and plastic bonding adhesives to supply OEM, tiered, and aftermarket automotive customers. 

The Midland Automotive FLL provides leadership and direction for a team of hourly employees in the production of glass bonding materials. The FLL is accountable for the safety, quality and efficient operation of the glass bonding facility over the period of a shift.  The FLL role will be on the same rotating 12hr shift as the direct reports.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Supervises an hourly production team of 11 employees. 

Models and drives for high standards of employee morale, ethics, and respectful treatment and behavior

Ensure operational discipline and standards are properly adhered to consistently including procedure use and housekeeping

Set expectations, model and hold people accountable for Core Value compliance in Safety Health & Environment (SHE), Ethics and Respect for People.

Coordinate daily work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.

Provides communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete.

Maintains and monitors performance metrics such as quality and production schedule compliance to meet business goals.

Track and improve plant reliability performance (TEEP/OEE)

Responsible for responding to personnel, operational and safety and environmental incidents.

Manages performance related to absences and time management for direct reports.

Conducts performance and development reviews for all team members.

Participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring activities

Participate in Root Cause Investigations

Keeps active field presence and assesses work activities routinely to maintain awareness of plant needs and understanding of personnel behaviors.

Work in close collaboration with Production Engineers and Area Manager to improve performance and ensure accountability

Develops the capabilities of all shift personnel in coordination with the Training Coordinator

Collaborates with other FLL’s to confirm compliance, codes and standards are being followed across shifts.

Responsible for first step grievance responses

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills, abilities):

Associates degree (or greater) OR High School Diploma AND equivalent work experience. (Required)

Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing which includes knowledge and processes supporting SHE, Quality, PSM, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement systems and tools. (Required)

Computer knowledge and skills in applications such as Microsoft Office and SAP

Demonstrated competency in Building Winning Teams, Coaching, Championing Change, Driving for Results and Mobilizing Resources

 PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES (knowledge, skills, abilities):

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject  

5+ years relevant chemical manufacturing plant experience

Previous supervisory experience in a union environment

Six Sigma Green Belt certified
