What you’ll be doing
The Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) Group is responsible for all aspects of CIBC's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF) regime, including development of policies and procedures, development and delivery of training, and reviewing the activities of CIBC's business and infrastructure groups, and investigative activities, including the receipt and analysis of information that may indicate money laundering, terrorist financing or sanctions violation, or other high-risk activity.
As the Manager, ML/TF Product Risk and Typologies you’ll be responsible for ensuring the ML/TF and Sanctions Product Risk Assessment methodology, and Risk Typologies remain current, and provide an accurate assessment of CIBC’s ML/TF and Sanctions risk profile. Assess the adequacy of controls to mitigate relevant ML/TF threats and risk typologies. You will coordinate risk assessment activities among stakeholders within EAML and the first line; ensuring the timely escalation of issues.

How you’ll succeed
ML/TF risk assessment – Assist in the development and ongoing execution of the Enterprise ML/TF Product Risk Assessment methodology. Identify red flags and typologies associated with bank wide products and services in order to mitigate risk. Evaluate the materiality of gaps and internal control weaknesses; Support development of process, procedure, policy, and methodology documents specific to product and services in order to support the broader annual risk assessment. Keep abreast of AML/ATF regulatory developments and emerging issues affecting CIBC. Understand the bank’s risk appetite and culture and how it applies to product risk rating methodology and the creation of transaction monitoring rules.
Strategic thinking approach – Drive, manage and execute data and reporting projects and initiatives in alignment with EAML department’s goals, objectives and key performance indicators.
Relationship management - Manage relationships with various partners throughout the bank with a high focus on collaborating and partnering for shared success.
Time management – Engage in multiple concurrent risk assessments across different business units and in different development stages and be able to complete required tasks on a timely basis. Prepare status reports on project milestones accomplished. Assist with the resolution of issues and obstacles to achieve objectives.
Communication – Prepare clear and concise risk assessment reports tailored to an executive audience. Keep stakeholders informed on changes and enhancements to the Risk Assessment Program.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience in facilitating small and large group meetings; communicating complex ideas to various stakeholders. You have knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF laws and regulations, and a working knowledge of AML/ATF laws and regulations of jurisdictions in which CIBC entities operate. You have excellent judgment and problem-solving skills in order to provide input and advice to business units on AML requirements.
It’s an asset if you have an undergraduate degree in business, or criminology or a related field along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in business strategy, financial crime risk management or operational risk compliance.
You can demonstrate experience in people management, sufficiently skilled to lead and motivate a professional team.
