**29910BR** **Job Title:** First Year Course Coordinator **Department:** Undergraduate Education **Primary Campus:** University of Kansas Lawrence Campus **Job Description:** **65% Course Enrollment Support** + Provide administrative support for all UNIV courses and FYS sections, including course and section creation in Enroll & Pay system, managing student databases, checking course rosters, distributing permission numbers, working with classroom scheduling, etc. + Answer questions from students related to registration for courses and support academic advising team throughout new student orientation sessions; Attend and present at relevant academic advising meetings to keep advisors up-to-date on offerings + Promote first-year course offerings at new student orientation sessions through presentations, event tabling, ordering promotional items, and distributing print materials + Assist in the First-Year Seminar course proposal process by organizing proposals, confirming instructor eligibility, and communicating with department scheduling officers to schedule courses + Design and develop print materials to advertise course offerings to students and advisors + Respond to instructor and student concerns/issues and communicate with instructors regarding events, policies, etc. **20% Academic Programs Support** + Coordinate instructor offer letters/priors, instructor pay, and reimbursements + Collaborate with Academic Programs Assistant Director to collect assessment data, instructor evaluations, and support projects related to the UNIV curriculum and First-Year Seminars + Maintain relationships with campus partners (Student Affairs units, Libraries, Natural History Museum, Spencer Museum of Art) + Maintain website as needed for Academic Programs courses + Provide Canvas-related assistance for instructors as needed + Participate in team meetings + Process student submissions and degree applications and answer relevant questions for experiential learning certificates **10% Event and Instructor Training Support** + Coordinate instructor trainings, including scheduling meeting space, ordering catering, organizing print materials, and ensuring appropriate technology is available + Support departmental events, including scheduling event space, ordering catering, organizing print materials and technology, and communicating with Event Services **5% Other duties as assigned** + Actively Participates in professional development activities to promote learning and growth. + Handles special projects and assignments from the supervisor **Req ID** **(Ex: 10567BR)** **:** 29910BR **Disclaimer:** The University of Kansas prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, age, ancestry, disability, status as a veteran, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, gender identity, gender expression, and genetic information in the university's programs and activities. Experience coordinating and implementing academic workshops, seminars, and group activities, as evidenced in application materials. **Position Overview:** The Office of Academic Programs unit within Undergraduate Education, a division of Academic Affairs, supports the intellectual engagement and pursuit of learning through courses, resources, and programs that enable students to pursue their potential, navigate the university, establish connections, and maximize experiential learning opportunities so students can fully embrace their educational endeavors and prepare for a meaningful career and life. The First-Year Course Coordinator is a vital part of the Academic Programs team, helping to support KU students’ success through first-year courses. The first-year courses are designed to assist students with navigating the university, connecting with peers, staff, and faculty, exploring experiential learning and co-curricular activities, and establishing healthy financial and wellness habits. The coordinator will be responsible for maintaining course listings, coordinating instructor training and departmental events, responding to instructor/student questions and concerns, and supporting assessment efforts. The coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Director to ensure course instructors have the resources they need to make first year courses successful.
