Fitness Centre Monitor/Personal Trainer

Recreation Services is now accepting applications for Personal Trainers and Fitness Centre Monitors from qualified individuals interested in pursuing part-time employment with the Town of Oakville.

Fitness Centre Monitor

Pay Rate: Starting at $21.35 per hour

Hours: Vary, up to a maximum of 24 hours per week

Job Responsibilities:

Offering safe and effective fitness center supervision and exceptional customer service

Monitoring and instructing  patrons on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment

Providing Fitness Centre users with fitness information and promoting Town of Oakville programs and services.

Providing fitness center orientations and tours; cleaning, upkeep and small repairs of equipment; maintain optimal operation of center; educate customers of fitness center etiquette

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Enrollment in or completion a degree/diploma in a related field (i.e. Kinesiology, Fitness/Health Promotion) or equivalent background and experience is preferred

Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification is required

CSEP-CPT, CSEP-CEP, NSCA certification, FIS and other specialty training certificates; or equivalent would be considered an asset

Current CPR Level "C"/AED & Standard First Aid

Satisfactory criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening, dated within 30 days, is required prior to commencing the position

Personal Trainer

Pay Rate: Starting at $34.77 per hour

Hours: Vary, up to a maximum of 24 hours per week

Job Responsibilities:

Offering safe and effective personal training and fitness counselling to individuals

Developing safe, professional and comprehensive personal training programs to ensure clients are satisfied with their workout program and remain motivated to attain their personal fitness goals

Monitoring and instructing clients during personal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment

Position is applicable to one-on-one and semi-private training sessions

To provide Fitness Centre users with fitness information and promote Town of Oakville programs and services

Providing informative consultations to potential clientele. Consultation includes health screening, data collection, research, health history.  May include fitness assessment where applicable

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification is required

Degree/diploma in a related field (i.e. Kinesiology, Fitness/Health Promotion) or equivalent background and experience is preferred
