Under supervision of the MWR Athletics & Outdoor Activities Manager, the Equipment Mechanic performs diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. Maintains and repairs equipment and parts, to include but not limited to, pumps, blowers, compressors, engine generators, valves, hydraulic systems; electrical systems including transformers, motor control centers and equipment wiring; instrumentation systems such as chemical dosing equipment, and control equipment. Accurately updates computerized preventative, forced and corrective maintenance and parts inventory records. Orders parts, materials and supplies required to perform the duties of the position. Schedules and performs required preventive maintenance on equipment in compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations and/or company SOPs. Responsible for ensuring MWR equipment is maintained and functional. Assists Management in providing oversight, guidance, and technical expertise related to equipment repair and services. This position is contingent based on contract award. Position is located on Ascension Island. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Works in close coordination with the MWR Manager to create a continuous flow of information regarding ongoing MWR equipment activities. Responsible for maintaining and repairing MWR equipment (to include, Bicycles) Performs diagnostic examinations and inspections on MWR fitness equipment. Ensures preventive maintenance and repair adjustments are made. Ensures routine scheduled maintenance, checks and services (PMCS) standards are conducted. Coordinates the removal of items as required for major repair and proper turn-in procedures. Develops, implements, and monitors equipment orders and adequate storage levels of required equipment parts. Reports status of equipment on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Maintains equipment service and accountability logs to ensure compliance with government regulations. Monitors and evaluates work performance of employees to ensure they are following the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and all regulations pertaining to their assigned duties. Ensures compliance with established Safety Policies and Procedures. Ensures safeguarding of all government property and equipment. Responsible for planning, developing, directing, and coordinating logistical support for multiple, simultaneous, program level activities. Provides assistance, direction, and information to employees and grantees as required. Interacts with the military, and other agency officials, both over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner. Works to achieve Ascension Island goals and contractual commitments. Performs other duties as required and directed by MWR Management. Duties include but not limited to assisting other department sections to ensure mission requirements, working different shift patterns, and cross-leveling into different MWR job titles and duties when directed. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Tools of the trade, special equipment, vehicle and work materials. Working Environment: Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. Subject to noise, hazards to physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to heat and chemicals. Physical Activities: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all fire and Safety Regulations and post policies. Qualifications Education / Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license from origin. Experience / Skills: Two years’ experience in maintenance and repair. Requires strong interpersonal skills to work with internal and external customers.
