Job SummaryThe Fitness Specialist position is Part Time! Working about 25-30 hours per week. Hours will be 2pm to 8pm and may be asked to work morning shifts (as needed)

The Fitness Specialist is responsible for physical assessments, exercise prescription, exercise floor coverage, equipment cleanliness/preventive maintenance, policy enforcement, member exercise incentive programming and delivering excellent customer service at all times. They provide a safe environment for individuals to exercise and improve their well-being. The majority of work is done at W.O.Walker Building. OccasionallyFitness Specialists will attend Community Access & Wellness events.

Responsibilities:
Supervises exercise activities, monitors exercising participants and interacts with members to ensure that exercise programs are carried out in a safe and effective manner.Creates, implements and evaluates incentive programs to enhance exercise adherence and retention.Designs and implements exercise prescriptions for personal training clients with a variety of experience.Personal train one on one or group training for 30, 45 or 1 hour sessions.Assists with the development and instruction of group exercise classes.Potential to present fitness related material in-person and virtually to a variety of people, one on one and group settingsFront desk duties- for membership enrollment, payments and morePotential to travel to other facilities as needed.Carries out other projects and duties as assigned by department supervisor or fitness center manager.Education:
Bachelor's Degree required.Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.ACSM, CSCS, ACE preferred.Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:
One year experience in a Fitness Center environment with a background in program management and/or exercise testing desirable.Physical Requirements:
Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.Personal Protective Equipment:
