Fixed Assets Accountant
A client of ours is looking for a Fixed Assets Accountant for a contract role. This role will focus on managing fixed asset records, general ledger entries, and reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reconciliations.
Responsibilities of Fixed Assets Accountant
+ Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
+ Prepare and post general ledger journal entries related to fixed assets and depreciation expenses.
+ Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of fixed asset accounts to the general ledger.
+ Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures (e.g., GAAP/IFRS).
+ Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits related to fixed assets.
+ Prepare reports and analysis on fixed asset trends, capital expenditures, and depreciation schedules.
+ Partner with operations, procurement, and other departments to track and manage capital projects.
+ Support financial close processes and ensure deadlines are met for reporting requirements.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications of Fixed Assets Accountant
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification is a plus).
+ 5+ years of experience in fixed asset accounting, general ledger, and account reconciliation.
+ Experience with fixed asset reporting tools or modules within ERP systems.
+ Background in large, multi-entity organizations or experience with multiple fixed asset systems is preferred
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups).
+ Strong understanding of GAAP or IFRS principles, fixed asset lifecycle management, and capital expenditure processes.
+ Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills.
+ Familiarity with tax depreciation rules and regulations.
