Fixed Asset Integrity Engineer

About you and this role:

Acts as the Technical Expertise & Support focal point for the overall reliability for fixed equipment (piping, PCE, relief devices, etc.), including compliance requirements.  Acts as a local (plant/site) subject-matter expert for the Global Mechanical Integrity Safety System (GMISS) and supports ongoing implementations of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programs where applicable.  Assists the Reliability Engineer in developing effective reliability strategies for fixed equipment by providing equipment-specific knowledge during ERS strategy development.  Focuses on those opportunities that over a long-term period or historically have impacted the plant’s measured fixed asset capability and the opportunities identified as "high-risk" in risk assessments. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Demonstrates a high level of knowledge concerning DOW’s Global Mechanical Integrity Safety Standard.Knowledgeable about local jurisdictional regulations and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices for Piping, Pressure Containing Equipment, and Relief Device inspections and tests.Facilitates the implementation of the Fixed Asset Integrity Playbook in their area of responsibility.Responsible for ensuring proper registration of all GMISS and Regulatory fixed equipment.Leads and facilitates the transition of plants from condition-based inspection practices to Risk Based Inspection strategies.Ensures critical fixed equipment inspection plans reflect all credible damage mechanisms and in consultation with Process Knowledgeable Persons and Corrosion Engineers helps identify failure modes and mechanisms specific to fixed equipment.Ensures inspections or repairs are properly deferred before they go overdue.Ensures all fixed equipment inspections deficiencies and recommendations are resolved, repaired in accordance with MET, and are properly assessed for Fitness-for-Service.In consultation with Process Knowledgeable Persons and Corrosion Engineers helps identify failure modes and mechanisms specific to fixed equipment. Communicates and reports key performance indicators for site’s Fixed Asset Integrity Program.Drives Plant Assessment Team consistency and best practices across their area of responsibility through effective mentoring and coaching of individual plant PAT Leaders.Identifies and closes gaps in the facilities Fixed Asset Integrity program by application of the Fixed Asset Integrity Playbook.In concert with the Reliability Engineer helps resolve Top Fixed Asset Reliability Opportunities and decrease fixed equipment failure losses in support of the site Product Supply Reliability improvement goals for the given year.Provides front end loading support for plant turnaround activities specific to Fixed Asset inspection and repair.Helps perform Fitness-for-Service evaluations for fixed equipment inspections.Assists Qualified Inspectors in prioritizing inspection deficiencies and recommendation.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required.A minimum of 8 years of experience in fixed asset maintenance, inspection, and RBI program implementation.API 510/570 certifications are preferred.Willingness to travel in order to support multiple sites.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills:

Troubleshooting: Ability to work through a systematic approach that is data driven to identify potential root causes and resolve problems efficiently.  Troubleshooting equipment and quality issues.Cross Functional Collaboration: Work with Peers, functional support groups (tech center, quality, maintenance, etc.) to accomplish facility goals and resolve day to day challenges associated with their processes of responsibility.Technical Skills: Ability to learn basic chemistry and apply knowledge to assist in troubleshooting quality issues.  Understanding of basic process technology: pumps, instrumentation, distillation, etc.
