JOB SUMMARY: Operates console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallets the cases of finished product.  Reads packaging specifications to ensure correct pallet type and arrangement of cases onto pallet matches specification. They must understand and align business operations and cutting department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives. Starting at $22.30/hour base + shift differetials. *GPI promotes within with an earning potential up to $35.67/hour in other departments.*

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

Operates console that controls automatic Bagging equipment to transfer, bag, and deliver on pallets finished material.  Reads packaging specifications to ensure correct pallet type and arrangement of cartons onto pallet matches specification. Prepares loads before loading into conveyor to identify potential issues, defective cartons, slip sheets or pallets. Supplies loading equipment with plastic rolls and slip sheets. Stops and restarts equipment to clear jams. Informs supervisor of equipment malfunction. Operate automatic bagger equipment by threading bag and going through the startup process.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

Manufacturing experience preferred. Must be able to work other shifts if needed and perform overtime work as required. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.  Must have excellent communication skills, communicating with people at all levels throughout the organization.  Qualified candidate will be mechanically inclined, solution oriented and some computer knowledge.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.  However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule. Must be willing and able to work overtime.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods. Awkward and/or repetitive movements. Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated* with the performance of the functions of this job: Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, pulling, twisting (re-piling loads), kneeling, bending, reaching, going up and downstairs, visual acuity (near and far). Physical demands commonly associated* with the performance of the functions of this job: Function 1 requires lifting packed cases (weighing up to 50 lbs.) from the rollers (3 ft. high), carrying them approximately 5 ft. to pallet and stacking them onto correct pallet.  Cases are stacked as high as 7 ft. Job requires lifting empty pallets (approximately 50 lbs.) from stack of pallets and sliding them to end of conveyor. Requires physical ability to pull full pallet (1500 - 2000 lbs.) with hand truck.  Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment. Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
