This role plays a key role in flavour sales growth, flavour creation, flavour production and flavour library by working efficiently to support customer briefs while maintaining a vision of what will work best for customers and Kerry.

 

In this role, the Flavourist extends capabilities by collaborating with other flavourists and by managing and training junior staff or trainees to support initiatives and projects. The Flavourist will develop flavours and interact with customers, other flavourists, EUM technologists, sensory scientists, production, and suppliers to ensure that goals are met and that briefs are completed in a timely manner.

 

The Flavourist will have an extensive understanding of raw materials, finished products, production, regulatory, analytical and flavour application. The Flavourist will also have significant experience in his/her area of expertise and continues share knowledge in flavour development and relevant areas.

Key responsibilities Responsible for Flavour creation projects within APMEA. Independently lead projects, developing flavours in line with business need and in response to customer brief. Proactively work with new ingredients. Utilize Kerry technology to deliver unique solutions to project brief. Work closely with all EUMs (End Use Markets) within Kerry. Lead technical presentations and working sessions with customers. Interact with key customers regionally or globally to understand requirements and build solid relationships. Mentoring and training the flavourist trainees or Junior Flavourists. Perform physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing and analysis of flavours. Work with analytical group on flavour matching projects. Employ thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory and labeling requirements for flavours. Work with cross functional team to optimize the strengths of Kerry and deliver the best Taste and Nutrition experience for our customers. Participate in sensory panels. Attend industry events and seminars to further flavour knowledge, network, and scout for talent.
  Qualifications and skills Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Life Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or relevant industry experience with 5 years of active flavour work on the bench  Good background in organic chemistry, food chemistry, flavour applications. Good math skills for problem-solving calculations. Strong trouble-shooting skills, with strong and discerning sense of smell and taste. Broad flavour experience across end-use with specialization is desirable. Demonstrates passion for flavour creations and strong ability for problem-solving and complaint resolution. Demonstrates good ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching and conflict management skills. Builds high performing and effective teams and demonstrates professionalism. Good interpersonal and communication skills.. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change and has no limitations to tasting a variety of materials.
