Fleet Compliance Director- DOT

Summary

Provide leadership and guidance for all the company’s transportation compliance processes (DOT/FCSMA & internal policies), lead the transportation function with their direct transportation compliance needs. The Fleet Compliance Director will craft short- and long-term strategies which build a culture of compliance within the transportation functions and proactive perspective. This position will introduce and oversee systems and activities to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status; coordinate and manage the incident management process including partnering with Risk Management on claims management; conduct audits and inspections of the transportation compliance process; and develop and analyze metrics and indices reflecting performance. Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Implement and monitor company compliance controls, compliance procedures, operational processes, and audits to comply with all Federal & State transportation regulations. This includes ensuring compliant Driver Qualification files, CDL-A and Medical Certifications, FMCSA random drug and alcohol clearing house requirements, administering random drug and alcohol programs, and maintaining complaint hours of service. Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Perdue’s professional and non-professional driver policies to enable world-class compliance performance. Develop tools, scorecards, and visualizations to analyze compliance data and leverage technology to optimize data. Use analysis and insights to partner with operations and other safety related functions to drive improvements for driver safety and DOT compliance within the organization. Manage and administer operational systems to ensure legal compliance with DOT rules and regulations and compliance with internal policies while supporting business process to improve safety and efficiency. Provides support and training for transportation supervision on systems related to fleet compliance and safety. (Samsara, J.J. Keller/Data Sense, internal accident, and violation databases). Manage and administer CSA BASICS scores and perform CSA violation challenges when needed. Establishes and maintains up-to-date Fleet Safety functional documentation, audits standard operating procedures, as well a comprehensive fleet safety/compliance reports library.   Process and manage all accident claims with our risk management department, insurance carrier, and assigned adjusters. Provides advice and consul to management in effective accident investigation, driver accident prevention assisting in coordinating specialized resources when necessary. Benchmark with private fleets, carriers, and industry to develop best in class systems, processes and performance results. Drive cadence for sharing, educating, and communicating status, pipeline innovation and State of the Fleet including internal marketing.   Education and Experience

REQUIRED:  Strong knowledge of knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) Program. Bachelor’s degree in Transportation & Logistics, Fleet Safety Compliance, and 8+ years related transportation work experience and 4+ years’ experience directly related to DOT compliance. Must have advanced data analytics/computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, Outlook), SharePoint, etc. and must have functional working database experience. Requires analytical skills.  Requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize work, excellent organizational skills and initiative to improve processes. Requires the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical users. Must be self-directed and position will require overnight travel as dictated on the business needs of the company as required.   Must always have a valid US passport.                                    

 

PREFERRED: Masters degree Transportation & Logistics. Professional certifications in Transportation. CDL license. Experience managing compliance of a multi-terminal operation. Previous experience with Samsara management software. Expertise in driving change management, supporting engineering standards and creating on-going and adaptable solutions to support the business. Helpful to have agricultural background, knowledge and understanding of differing functions within the Perdue Farms business units.

Decision making responsibilities

Interpret FMCSA, DOT, state, local, and other pertinent regulations for fleet management. Authority to stop operations deemed non-compliant during investigations or audits.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 lbs. May be able to travel extensively due to fleet and contractor driver deployment across the United States & Canada. Work activity is generally in an office environment. When in a operations environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. Outdoor yards and unpaved roadways may occasionally be encountered. May be exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees to 105 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Compensation Data

The salary range for this position is $143,000.000 - $179,000.00 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).
