Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal condition for safe and efficient operation. This position requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
The person in this role will report to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and will work with them and other managers within the transportation to oversee the execution of the fleet maintenance strategy that complements the overall strategic operating and growth plans.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Arrange regular inspections and maintenance of fleet vehicles to ensure they are in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Coordinating and scheduling routine maintenance such as PM's, tire rotations, Annual Inspections, Campaigns, Recalls and other warranty opportunities.
Plan and execute preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as regional managers and drivers, to address maintenance concerns and provide timely solutions.
Source and procure necessary parts, tools, and equipment for maintenance repairs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Monitor and manage external service providers and vendors, such as repair shops and suppliers while utilizing national accounts to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of maintenance and repair work.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the fleet maintenance team.
Ability to cover fleet maintenance duties across regions and provide backup / flow to work coverage as needed.
Identify, lead, or participate in project work as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required); add technical certifications or vocational training in repair (preferred)
5+ years maintenance operations experience
Some travel required
Desired Skills & Experience
Proven experience in fleet maintenance, repair, or related field.
Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
Experience in OEM warranty recovery
Experience in National Account programs
Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and scheduling.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze issues and provide effective solutions.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and work outside regular business hours when required.
Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines
