Sterling Industrial, headquartered in Evansville, Indiana was founded and incorporated in 1982. Our company began and grew from a need for swift, reliable service for utilities in southern Indiana. Meeting the needs of utilities through small emergencies, we found an increasing need to add pipefitters and millwrights to our operation, and from there our company continued to grow.
As a multi-craft union contractor, we provide civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical services for new construction and maintenance/retrofit projects. Our core markets include power generation, metals, pulp/paper, plastics, and chemical markets. Power Generation and Heavy Industry Markets

+ Full-service boiler repair and maintenance for the industrial and power generation sectors. Complete boiler and associated equipment installation and repair. Refractory repair/replacement.
+ Installation and repair of pollution control equipment such as scrubbers, precipitators, fabric filters, and ancillary equipment.
+ Foundations, steel erection, equipment setting, and precision alignment, piping, electrical and instrumentation. Rigging/setting and assembly of plant equipment.
+ Largest employer of boilermakers, pipefitter, ironworker, electricians and millwright crafts in the nation.
+ Maintains ASME and NBIC Accreditation for PP, S, U, U2, and R stamps.

+ 150,000 square feet of shop fabricating and machining facilities and specialized equipment.Specialized focus on fabrication, installation, and welding of special/exotic alloy metals for the chemical and power generation industries such as duplex stainless steel, and high chromium/high nickel alloys.
+ Fulltime Quality Control Group for both field and shop work, including personnel certified by AWS and ASNT for various types of NDE.
Commercial and Institutional Markets :
In addition to the Power Generation and Heavy Industrial markets, Sterling Industrial provides new construction and maintenance services for the Building Construction and Institutional market sectors. We have performed new construction work for pre-engineered buildings, concrete foundations, structural and ornamental installation, plumbing, electrical, and architectural finish work on commercial/institutional applications such as offices, banks, stores/malls, schools, churches, and warehouses. Additionally, we provide maintenance and repair services for the same type of facilities. Skilled craftsmen are employed in providing these services including carpenters (form and finish), laborers, cement finishers, ironworkers, plumbers, and electricians.

Position Summary:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's fleet operations, ensuring efficient management of vehicles and drivers, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing cost-effectiveness. This role involves scheduling maintenance, tracking vehicle usage, managing budgets, and ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the fleet.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s fleet, including vehicle allocation and usage.
• Coordinate the acquisition, leasing, or disposal of fleet vehicles in line with company policies.
• Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and overall vehicle performance.
Maintenance and Compliance
• Schedule regular maintenance and inspections to ensure fleet safety and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including driver certifications and vehicle registration.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and compliance requirements.
Driver Management
• Hire, train, and oversee drivers, ensuring adherence to safety and operational policies.
• Manage driver schedules and workloads to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
• Monitor driver performance and address any concerns or violations.
Cost and Budget Management
• Develop and manage the fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and other expenses.
• Analyze and report on fleet efficiency, identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
Technology and Data Management
• Use fleet management software to track vehicles, analyze performance, and optimize operations.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems for real-time updates on fleet movements.
Safety and Risk Management
• Implement and enforce safety policies and training programs for drivers and fleet operations.
• Investigate accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles, providing detailed reports and corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation.
• Skills:
o Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
o Proficiency in fleet management software and tools.
o Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
o Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
o Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and compliance standards.
• Certifications: Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., NAFA’s Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM) is a plus.
