The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security has a great opportunity for a Flight Engineering Manager – Air Breathing Propulsion in Berkeley, MO.
The successful candidate will have deep experience with all aspects of propulsion system development and qualification, propulsion integration, propulsion lab, ground and flight testing, propulsion supplier management, and customer interaction.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall success of a new development integrated propulsion system
Manages a team of propulsion engineers and a large subcontracted SOW to a propulsion supplier
Develops project plans aligned with program objectives. Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute product design and development. Reviews plan execution, makes appropriate adjustments and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
Reports cost, schedule, and technical performance to program leadership.
Forecasts resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments. Ensures employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
10+ years of experience in propulsion engineering
5+ years of experience leading teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Prior management or team lead experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with propulsion system requirement verification/validation and military qualification/airworthiness activities.
Experience developing and administering budgets, schedules and performance standards.
Experience with propulsion lab, ground and flight testing.
Prior oversight of technical efforts of large or multi-skill teams.
Mentoring or technical lead engineer experience.
