Job Overview:

The Hybrid Flight Nurse renders advanced life support to sick, disabled, or injured individuals based on signs, symptoms, or complaints, prior to the individual s hospitalization or by providing advanced life support and specialty care while transporting the individual between health care facilities. Standard of care is limited to the use of the knowledge, skills, and techniques within the New Jersey Paramedic scope of practice, SCTU procedures, and Air Medical procedures in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and RWJBH MH policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or obtain within 5 years of hire4 years of ICU/CCU/ED experienceRN licensed by the State of NJCurrent Driver s License and must satisfy the current vehicle insurance company s requirementsCurrent NJ MICP certification or National Registry Paramedic or NJ MICN endorsement or obtain within 3 months of hireCFRN preferred or obtain within one year of hireMust possess an American Heart Association BLS-Healthcare Provider (CPR) certificationMust possess an American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificationMust possess an American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificationMust possess an American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificationPre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support certificationMust possess ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800Must have completed Hazardous Materials Awareness trainingMust have completed Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training

Essential Functions:

Conducts self in a professional, dignified, and compassionate manner at all timesCapable of communicating clearly, effectively, professionally, and in the English language via written and verbal meansNotifies Supervisor of any deficiencies regarding maintenance, equipment, or suppliesNotifies Supervisor immediately of any unusual circumstancesProvides treatment in accordance with established patient care protocols. This includes the department s established Standing Orders, Radio Failure Protocols, Triage to BLS Guidelines, Termination of Resuscitative Efforts, and SCTU procedures.Operates department vehicles in accordance with all applicable NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and MH driving related policies.RNs are required to complete department specific continuing programs in addition to those required by the State of New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.RNs are expected to perform routine duties intended to keep them safe and facilitate their ability to provide patient care. This includes but is not limited to: completing vehicle inspection forms and vehicle maintenance requests, submitting copies of required certifications prior to their due date, remaining compliant with hospital Employee Health requirements such as TB testing and N95 fit testing, and completing hospital-required processes such as annual employee self-evaluations and employee engagement surveys in a timely manner.RNs are expected to complete all patient care documentation in accordance with the MH Documentation Procedure.Interacts professionally with partners, patients, management, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, and other healthcare providers and members of the publicPerforms other duties as required or requested by MH management, necessary to the function of the organization
