JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR) and the Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) weapon development program as a flight and weapons safety subject matter expert and an advisor for decision making on both technical and non-technical matters primarily involving mission planning and execution in support of the Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) weapon system development and testing.  **Note:  This is a 3-year position with the possibility of yearly renewal thereafter.**

Employee will be responsible for the following primary functions/duties:

During mission execution, monitor and assess the performance of LRSO test articles in real-time against planned flight parameters/profiles, and recommend courses of action to UTTR mission control center (MCC) Range Safety Officers (RSOs) and Range Control Officers (RCOs) regarding continued test article flight or test article termination. Conduct independent pre-mission Safety Review Boards (SRBs) to evaluate planned mission profiles and test article performance to ensure adherence to UTTR flight safety requirements and produce follow-on reports with recommendations to the Range Operating Authority (ROA). Conduct independent analysis of and advise the ROA on the adequacy of LRSO safety assessments, corrective measures, and risk mitigation following inflight anomalies or mishaps. When required/requested, represent the UTTR both pre- and post-mission, at a variety of meetings and locations such as design reviews, technical interchange meetings, mission planning meetings, safety evaluations/reviews, post mission debriefs, and mishap/anomaly investigations. Evaluate test article planned routes of flight to assure range and public safety, conduct manned site surveys, and recommend adjustments as required to routes to ensure safe employment of the test article. Read, interpret and utilize a variety of maps, Geographic Information System (GIS) products and software, such as SoftWright's Terrain Analysis Package, needed to develop products such as Radio Frequency (RF) propagation analysis and RF coverage plans. Conduct technical analysis and review of systems designed to support safe weapon employment and flight termination to include RF Link Margin Analysis and Link Budget calculations. Act as a subject matter expert in analysis of requirements, development/design, deployment, operation, and troubleshooting of Enhanced/Flight Termination Systems in support of the LRSO customer and UTTR safety requirements. Interact and coordinate with the UTTR and the LRSO customer as required to ensure all UTTR and customer requirements or agreements are being met or adhered to.

Other Responsibilities:

Required to read, understand, and provide input as required on a variety of technical and non-technical documents related to customer support and UTTR operations such as but not limited to technical manuals, engineering documentation and schematics, design reviews, Program Introduction Documents (PIDs) and Project Support Plans (PSPs).

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary in an office environment; however, some walking, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, stretching and lifting (up to 40 pounds) may be required.

During mission execution, work is performed in a mission control center, under moderate mental stress, as part of team of safety and operations professionals during real-time mission execution.

Travel to and from company work locations, some in remote/austere locations, is required (for example, occasional travel to Dugway will be required).

Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience:

A Bachelor of Science in engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred), from an ABET-accredited academic institution and four years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of two years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position.

In addition, the incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Technical knowledge of the development, design, operation, evaluation, inspection, production, test, certification, application and standardization of airborne Enhanced/Flight Termination Systems (E/FTS) associated with airborne test articles and associated ground transmission systems and support equipment.
