Flight Sciences Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Flight Sciences SME to join our growing team in Las Vegas, NV.  

The successful candidate will have experience in flying qualities, loads, air data, performance, and structures to support initial envelope expansion testing for a government test vehicle. Duty location is Las Vegas, but travel to other work locations will be required. Depending on the skills of the applicant, this position can be Mid to Senior level discipline engineer.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in planning, executing, analysis, and reporting of flight sciences initial envelope expansion testing.

Responsibilities:
• Provide SME support to the team during the planning, execution, analysis and reporting phases
• Analyze test data to validate and refine envelope expansion methodology
• Develop and support publication of support plans and procedures for developmental testing
• Review and evaluate test procedures to ensure satisfactory completion of program requirements
• Support test card development and review with other operational personnel and engineering disciplines
• Conduct and contribute to predictions and post-data analysis to support anomaly identification and resolution
• Implement industry standard, theoretical, and/or rigorous analysis methodologies to verify and validate flight sciences and analysis methods of initial envelope expansion programs
• Work under only general direction to develop solutions
• Must be able to learn additional engineering disciplines if required

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor and/or Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.

Required:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in flight sciences
• Minimum 7 years working in the test community
• Minimum 2 years of initial envelope expansion on the same program
• Proficient with Integrated Analysis & Data Systems (IADS)

Desired:
• In-depth knowledge of flight test methodologies
• Proven experience executing envelope expansion
• Proficiency in analyzing flight test data
• Certification or training in flight test operations or related disciplines
• In-depth knowledge of or test experience to include control room monitoring of Safety of Flight and Safety of Test parameters.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly

Travel:
Travel is anticipated to be approximately 20 days annually.

Clearance Requirements:
Active DoD TS/SCI eligibility is required. Ability to obtain SAP security clearance is also required.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
