Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose

Under the direction of the healthcare provider, the Float Medical Assistant II is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. This role involves accurately performing preliminary physical tests, including measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, and other assessments as directed by established clinical protocols. The Float Medical Assistant II will float to various locations, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in providing high-quality patient care across multiple settings.

Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesProvide general patient care by following established standards and procedures.Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.Obtain and record vital signs, including but not limited to blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, and presenting problems.Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as needed.Administer prescribed medications and vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant methods.Perform routine tests, such as EKGs, as required.Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion.Communicate test results and plans of care to patients by phone or mail, as directed by the healthcare provider.Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments; maintain and organize patient exam rooms; dispose of contaminated items in accordance with protocol.Document patient care plans, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the healthcare provider.Escalate non-routine issues, concerns, or questions to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).Complete required safety checklists and quality control measures.Ensure patient safety and protect patient privacy rights in compliance with legal and ethical standards.Float between multiple locations as required, providing flexible and effective patient care at each site.Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program. May require specialized training such as Non-Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT).

Required Licensure and Certifications

Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required if applicable. 
BLS – CPR certification required within 5 days

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training


2 years Medical Assistant experience.
Ability to perform urine drug screens, administer injections.  
Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.  
Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.  
Through knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations. 
Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.  
Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients.  
Good computer skills using a medical management application.  
Possess a strong work ethic and a high level or professionalism.
