Has a working knowledge of medication usage, dosage forms, and pharmaceutical calculations. Updates and maintains pharmacy orders, prints reports, submits third party payor bills, and packages medicines. Enters drug orders into the computer system. Fills prescriptions. Prepares and packages medications for courier delivery. Performs monthly and daily billing responsibilities and other clerical duties within the department. Receives direction or instruction on a regular basis regarding tasks to be completed and priorities. In this role, you will be required to cover various locations within our system, as directed by your supervisor. Knowledge, skills and competencies: Typing skills required to operate computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds to perform stock work. Verbal communications skills required to discuss work issues and tasks with co-workers General knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and products Under general supervision of a pharmacist, performs pharmacy-related functions to provide optimal pharmaceutical care, including managing drug procurement, preparation, storage, inventory control, distribution, orders, prescriptions, and dispensing, insurance processing, prior authorization or other duties as required Assists the pharmacist in non-sterile medication preparation by selecting, counting, compounding, packaging, scanning, labeling, filling, and delivering medications per department guidelines. Responsible for all inventory control. Ordering all drugs and supplies necessary to ensure that sufficient inventory levels are maintained in a cost-effective manner. Reconciles invoices for drugs and supplies. Stock rotation, removal of expired medications. Ensures the safe and appropriate storage and packaging of medications Responsible for maintaining an accurate controlled substance (CII-CV) inventory and for reviewing and maintaining controlled substance records. Immediately reports unresolved controlled discrepancies to a supervisor. Optimizes workflow by efficiently and accurately completing job duties land prioritizing workload. Has a good overall job knowledge and uses good technical and procedural judgment. Assists with other duties as necessary for efficient pharmacy operations. Shows initiative and flexibility in carrying out day to day tasks. Utilizes appropriate and logical problem-solving techniques. Identifies critical issues and communicates to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Strong communication skills and the capacity to work with patients, physicians, pharmacists, case management, and retail personnel with genuine care and empathy. Coordinate the filling, counseling, billing, and delivery of prescriptions to the patient's rooms prior to discharge. Responsible for logistically organizing and delivering discharge prescription medications, self-care products, and health management resources to patients and/or their caregivers. Responsible for accurate and timely review of discharged medications in the acute care areas. Interviews patients, family members, caregivers, or outpatient/community pharmacies. Utilizes the electronic medical record (EPIC) to identify prior to admission or recent discharge medication lists in order to compile the best possible medication list for patients. Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization. Collaborates with healthcare providers including all members of the healthcare, members of the interdisciplinary care team, and the patient’s family across the continuum to ensure that patients are effectively managed and their healthcare needs are met. Utilizes information to address care opportunities and suggests adjustments in internal workflow to improve patient health outcomes. Comprehends transition of care and medication reconciliation. Assists providers and quality team in meeting utilization goals by tracking and following up after ER visits, specialty consults, and diagnostic testing. Adheres to rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy governing technician activities. Attends and actively participates in quality and program team meetings, patient/family advisory council, webinars and learning collaborative. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures, including assessment techniques to evaluate and track patient outcomes. Responsible for enrolling patients into the bedside medication delivery program. Education, and Qualification Required qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Minimum of 5 years pharmacy technician experience Preferred qualifications: Associate's degree (Healthcare, Business or a related field) preferred Has successfully passed the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCB) Retail pharmacy experience preferred. Salary Range USD $31.27 - USD $39.10 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
