FLOOR CARE AND PROJECT TECHNICIAN

Position Summary

Coordinate activities to maintain a safe, clean and dust free environment to assist in infection control.

Shift is 9AM-5:30PM
With the exception of some overnight duties (when stripping/waxing some areas) to align with patient and staff hours.

Essential Functions

Coordinate and completes floor cleaning functions of areas as assigned, such as stripping, waxing, and buffing floors as scheduled and as needed. Provide instruction and guidance in use of new equipment, cleaning techniques/methods, and cleaning agents as needed.  Work with cleaning crew in assigned areas, e.g. patient rooms, treatment rooms, offices, lounges, locker rooms, specialty areas such as operating rooms, delivery rooms, utility and storage areas, halls, and stairways. Prepare cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing solutions as prescribed.   Maintain inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, equipment, and prepare requisitions for submission to supervisor. Inspect equipment used in performance of duties and maintain proper functioning.  Make minor repairs or adjustments.  Determine needs for new parts, repairs, overhaul, replacement, and notify supervisor or requisition maintenance/repair service as directed.  Assure that equipment is cleaned after use and stored properly.  Inspect storage of supplies and take corrective action as needed.  Maintain established department policies, procedures, objective, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Maintain required cleaning records as directed. Participates in special projects as assigned, such as relocating furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc. Enhance professional growth and development through in-service and other educational programs as well as attending other required meetings. Perform other duties as directed.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager

 

Qualifications

High school education or equivalent required.  Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, operation and maintenance of power equipment and record keeping.  Knowledge of stripping/waxing floors and running floor equipment.  One year experience as a floor tech or floor maintenance.

 

Working Conditions

Extensive standing and walking.  Pushing, pulling heavy equipment.  Considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching.   Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
