The mission of the Florida Conservation Corps is to develop natural and cultural resource leaders by connecting them to areas of critical need in conservation, preservation, interpretation and resource based recreation. The Work You Will Do: The Florida Conservation Corps (FLCC) AmeriCorps program is a 27-year-old grant funded program administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Florida Park Service with up to 65 AmeriCorps members serving at state parks throughout Florida. FLCC staff work out of a north central location to recruit, manage, train, and/or support the AmeriCorps members and their site supervisors, while ensuring grant compliance. In addition FLCC staff and site supervisors work together to support the members throughout their service with one objective being that the members complete their 900 or 1,700 hour contracted term of service between February and December 31st while having an AmeriCorps experience in the Florida Park Service. The Event Assistant position will assist FLCC in the preparation and implementation of roughly 8-10 in person member events that take place annually between February and December. They will assist with creating/updating event documents, activities and trainings, participate in communication with presenters, purchase needed items, track event tasks, organize various event items, and participate in the implementation of the Service Learning Project (SLP – March), Member Outreach Development (MOD – April), AmeriCorps Disaster Response 100 (ADRT 100 – April) Florida Folk Festival (FFF – May), AmeriCorps Disaster Response 200 (ADRT 200 – June/July), Mid-Year Service Project (MYSP – August), Fire Fest (FF – October), and the Year End Service Project (YESP – December). This individual will work closely with the Assistant Program Coordinators and should expect to travel up to 1-week for each event. Pay: $17.50 per hour Your Specific Responsibilities: + Event Coordination – Assists with various tasks to prepare and implement our in-person AmeriCorps Program events. + Event Content Creation Assistance – creates, updates, and/or reviews schedules, guiding documents, presentations, and other content used to prepare and implement AmeriCorps Program in person events. + Event Communication Assistance – emails, calls, participates in virtual and in person meeting(s) with FLCC staff and community partners assisting with member trainings and activities during the to preparation and implementation stages of the AmeriCorps program in person events. + Event Task Tracking/Monitoring Assistance – Each event has an individual Excel task tracking database. This position will assist in tracking the progress of tasks and monitor the overall timeline in which items must be complete to successfully implement the event on time. + Event Training – Assist with the development and implementation of event trainings. + Event Implementation – Attends and participates in each event for the full duration of the event.
