Lunar Transportation: This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Document non-conformance tags for spacecraft fluids and propulsion subsystemsAnalyze variations to part print specifications which effect part form, fit, and functionEvaluate and provide a course of action regarding the ultimate disposition of the partsDevelop and manage execution of work order procedures pertaining to nonconformance dispositionsClosely manage the fabrication, quality, post processing, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process.Evaluates areas of non-conformance regarding defects arising during the manufacturing process and as compared to the product definition requirements as defined by the drawings and associated specifications/documentationSupport the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.Disposition and investigate root cause of vehicle discrepancies and take ownership of implementation of preventative/corrective action.Drive producibility excellence into integrated product team (IPT) designs – includes design for safety, manufacturing, assembly, maintainability, testing, cost, logistics, inspection, standards, etc.Engage with suppliers and customers to resolve emergent nonconformancePerform design engineering analysis of discrepant machined parts manufactured in an aerospace manufacturing facilityFor example, it may be used “as-is” with rework to condition that is acceptable for use, repaired, or scrappedThis analysis will include, but is not limited to, performing tolerance stacks, fluid/thermal dynamic calculations, Non-Destructive Test.Use-as-is (UAI) dispositions can still have a Supplier Quality (SQ) ticket submitted for corrective action to prevent future repetitive nonconformant occurrences that may cause similar defects in future (e.g. corrective action to control future UAIs)Non-Conformances (NC) can be defects deviating from drawing, part specification document, etc. requirementsExpectation to create WOsExpectation to provide hands-on floor support (hybrid/in-person position)Expectation to engage with design team to improve drawings, models, specifications, etc. to improve future part/assy producibilityMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes related to fluid system design and qualification.Experience with CAD and fluid analysis software (CFD, FEA, etc.).Previous experience with engineering change management, non-conformances, and material review board in a highly regulated industry such as aviation, aerospace, or nuclearConsistent track record of manufacturing experience directly related to part machining.Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).On-site position. Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
