With minimal supervision this position interacts routinely with technicians, engineers, managers and vendors in an effort to support the Quality Assurance and FM Approvals testing functions.

 

Responsibilities

FM Approvals is a world leader in testing and certification services, dedicated to ensuring that products and systems are reliable and meet rigorous standards. We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Assistant to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary:
The FM Approvals Engineering Assistant will play a crucial role in the verification and validation of changes to FM Approved products.  Manufacturing drawings, data sheets and specifications will be reviewed, and critical document lists will be updated accordingly. This role requires a strong technical acumen to review and process design change documentation, ensuring all calculations and data support engineering and scientific principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Review product drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with intended design functions.Apply technical judgment, and process client-submitted design change documentation.Validate calculations and data to ensure compliance with engineering standards.Collaborate with project engineers to identify and mitigate potential design issues.Support engineering tasks related to fire protection systems and flood mitigation equipment as needed.  On occasion, may support product testing projectsReview and resolve facilities and procedures audit nonconformance resolutions submitted by clients



Qualifications Associate’s degree in engineering or relatable technical field5+ years relatable experience Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)Strong understanding of engineering principles and technical drawingsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent documentation and reporting skillsStrong analytical skills to validate design calculations and dataEffective communication and collaboration skills to work with a multidisciplinary teamDetail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and qualityFamiliarity with fire protection systems and flood mitigation is a plus
