Food and Beverage Purchaser/Inventory Specialist

Job Overview: The Food and Beverage Purchaser/Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement and inventory of food and beverage items for our establishment. This role ensures that all supplies are ordered in a timely manner, meet quality standards, and are cost-effective. The specialist will work closely with vendors, monitor inventory levels, and collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Management: Identify and select vendors for food and beverage supplies. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements. Place orders for inventory based on forecasts, trends, and operational needs. Monitor and assess supplier performance to ensure quality and reliability. Inventory Control: Track inventory levels, usage rates, and turnover to maintain optimal stock levels. Conduct regular inventory audits to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and reduce costs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records. Quality Assurance: Ensure all food and beverage items meet the establishment’s quality and safety standards. Handle and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to product quality or delivery. Oversee the proper storage and handling of inventory to maintain product integrity. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with chefs, bartenders, and kitchen staff to understand their needs and preferences. Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and address any issues. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and supply chain efficiency. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of purchases, orders, and inventory. Prepare reports on inventory levels, costs, and purchasing activities. Assist in developing and updating purchasing policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, or a related field preferred. Proven experience in food and beverage purchasing, inventory management, or a related role. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. Familiarity with inventory management software and purchasing systems. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

Work Environment:

The role may require working in both office and kitchen settings. Occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary depending on the needs of the establishment.
