The Broward County Convention Center is undergoing an exciting time of change and growth with new shows booking and a +$1bn expansion nearing completion in 2025 – this includes a new HQ Hotel, currently the largest ballroom in SE USA, multiple meetings rooms, exhibition hall and a brand-new kitchen leading to a total 1.2 m sqft (under roof) of LEED Gold-certified space across the campus. Across our portfolio of live event venues and corporate offices, we are seeking an Operations Manager – Food & Beverage. This position will provide professional client food and beverage services and support in the planning, organization, and management of events within the facility, while interacting with clients, facility staff and related personnel to assure all event needs are fulfilled. Essential duties and responsibilities: + Responsible for execution of banquets (hosted services) daily but will also be expected to contribute to retail/concessions and bar services as required. + Works with leadership team to: + create event work plans including scheduling and ordering of products and assigns appropriate duties to subordinates. + Maintaining labor costs and budget goals. + creation of ‘Banquet Event Orders (BEO) packets’ for supervisors, captains, and individual servers. + Oversees, as assigned, food and beverage operations during events to ensure client and customer satisfaction. + Collates daily consumption reports when required by BEOs. + Works with Stewarding department to ensure timely delivery of product. + Supervises and monitors attendants during service. + Works with Retail Sales Manager or Designee to: + Plan concessions services. + Consult with subcontractors. + Schedule with internal departments for power/internet drops as required. + Ensure accurate PoS setups. + Works with Bar department (Hosted & Retail). + Ensures that all standards for safety and sanitation are maintained. + Monitors and manages the duties of Operations teams members as appropriate (Banquets, Concessions and Bars) + Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities + Oversees supervision of hourly staff. + Helps to develop and implement appropriate SOPs and training programs. + Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM GLOBAL's policies and applicable laws. + Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience + High school graduate or equivalent. + Three plus years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Bachelor’s degree preferred. + Minimum three years of management experience in a food and beverage facility servicing concessions, catering, and special events, or a similar venue. + Serve Safe (for Managers) certification required (within 60 days of employment if not already current). Skills and Abilities + Strong orientation to customer service and ability to collaborate with other staff members in the facility. + Results oriented individual with the ability to meet required budgetary goals. + Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills. + Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks. + Strong written, verbal, and people skills. + Communicates efficiently and effectively. (Bilingual – English/Spanish – a plus) + Demonstrated ability to control costs. + Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
