Sodexo is seeking an experienced Food Operations Manager 2 for NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler, an 815-bed skilled nursing and short-term care facility located on beautiful Roosevelt Island in New York City. Coler is nationally recognized for its specialized memory care program and is proud to hold a 4-Star Quality rating.
This is a not an entry-level role—we are looking for a proven leader with a strong background in healthcare food service management, ideally with union and hospital experience.
As a Food Operations Manager 2, you will support daily food service operations in a complex long-term care setting. Reporting to the Food Operations Manager 3, you’ll take ownership of your area, ensuring operational excellence, staff engagement, and resident satisfaction. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals while managing a diverse, unionized workforce.

What You'll Do
Lead daily operations for food service, ensuring efficiency and high standards
Manage and develop frontline union staff with an emphasis on accountability and teamwork
Monitor food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, DOH, regulatory compliance)
Support ordering, inventory, and cost controls
Build relationships with nursing and clinical staff to meet resident dietary needs
Support a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Step up as a strong team player and trusted second-in-command when needed

What You BringProven food service management experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare setting
Prior experience working with unionized staff
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and work collaboratively with peers and leadership
Culinary background preferred but not required
Passion for enhancing resident dining and staff development

Qualifications & RequirementsMinimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
