Job Description:
About the Role:
The Quality Specialist role at our Forest Park location is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality of all products produced. The Specialist supports the implementation of relevant quality processes and procedures and the daily execution of related activities. They are responsible for monitoring and providing monthly reporting on key food safety measures (HACCP, Food Safety and Prerequisite programs) and leading efforts to drive continuous improvement. The Specialist is a liaison for all food safety issues between cross-functional departments. You will add value to this role by:
Assisting with implementing sanitation assurance initiatives, pest control and platform regulatory compliance programs.
Leading and directing sanitation team to improve and sustain results in the Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP and APC swabbing) and hygienic restoration.
Coordinating key elements of the allergen control program including ingredient labeling, segregation, storage, cleanup process, verification of cleanups, and validation of cleanups, and on-going verification and validation of the entire allergen control program.
Investigating food safety consumer/customer complaints, identifying appropriate corrective action and provides professionally acceptable written resolution as needed to the platform Food Safety & Quality group and Customers.
Coordinating the facility’s food safety self-inspection program in support of the facility’s internal audit program. Providing on-going coaching and training for facility’s internal auditors. Responsible for reviewing all deficiencies, assisting in the development of corrective actions, trending of deficiencies, and tracking and reporting the completion status and verification of corrective actions.
Assisting Quality Manager and/or leads as required during Regulatory audits, 3rd party Inspections, Corporate audits, and Customer visits, and serves as primary back-up in the absence of Plant Quality Supervisor
Important Details: This is a full-time permanent role with responsibilities across multiple shifts (primarily day shift) which operate Monday – Friday with occasional overtime on Saturday and/or Sunday.
About You:
You’ll fit right in if you have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Business or related field.
Minimum three years of experience in Quality Management in a food, beverage or dairy production environment
Advanced knowledge of FDA, HACCP, and SQF; Food safety audit experience required. SQF (preferred), BRC or other
Infinity software experience is a plus.
Experience of federal/state food safety regulations.
Excellent leadership qualities, verbal and written communication skills, technical analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required
