We are looking for a Food Scientist to join our R&D team in Omaha, Nebraska.

In your role as a Food Scientist, reporting to the Manager R&D, you will focus on innovation and margin expansion projects, collaborating with brands like Odom's Tennessee Pride, Sandwich Brothers, Purple Carrot, Gardein and Alexia. You will develop new food products that align with consumer preferences and reformulate current products to enhance quality and profitability, overseeing the process from initial concept to successful commercialization.

Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state-of-the-art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and large pilot plant.

What you'll do in this role:

Develop new food products from the concept phase to successful commercialization

Lead product evaluations, design and complete plant trials, and initiate new product startups using pilot plant equipment

Establish product development schedules to meet project deadlines

Choose suitable methods, tests, and procedures for testing

Create project timelines, draft technical proposals, and provide reports and recommendations.

Design and conduct experiments, then compile results for evaluation.

Ideate and create new product prototypes.

Use of Microsoft Office and recipe managements systems

What you'll need to be successful:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Science, Chemistry or related field.

3+ years experience of relevant work experience in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization

Experience with food industry standards of quality and foods safety, and FDA regulations

Influence and collaborate with others to accomplish research goals

We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future

Physical Requirements:

Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, food tasting and smells including all food allergens.

May travel up to 40% of time independently and as a responsible Conagra representative.

You will typically be in the office Mondays - Thursdays with some flexibility. Fridays are usually remote. We offer relocation for this role.

Compensation: 

Pay Range:$62,000-$91,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
