Five years’ experience working on industrial/professional food service equipment and industrial appliances or experience in a related field. Nature & Purpose of Position To provide skilled work at the journeyperson level involved in the installation, repair and maintenance of the various pieces of industrial/professional food service equipment and appliances in all food, beverage, or like kind area that is owned or operated by Sam Houston State University. Primary Responsibilities Installs, evaluates and performs preventative maintenance of industrial grade appliances, food service equipment and service areas; including but not limited to: motors, conveyors, coffee makers, dishwashers, grills, stoves, grease traps and various other appliances or attributes related to service areas. Troubleshoots equipment, appliances, or services areas and evaluates condition, schedules contract work/repairs if needed. Troubleshoots, replaces and repairs assigned equipment, appliances, grease traps, or service areas including but not limited to low voltage control circuits and systems, other controls, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) coolers, refrigerators, stoves, grills, ovens, mixers, freezers, vent hoods and other food preparation devices. Makes minor repairs and adjustments to electrical switches, plugs, and light fixtures, carpentry, plumbing, electronic and HVAC equipment. Performs plumbing work to include unclogging drains, hoses, HVAC drains, cleaning drain screens and installing plumbing equipment. Checks equipment and takes care of general emergencies. Estimates small projects, interfaces with customers on campus, vendors, and other university/Aramark staff and will become specialized in a craft. Performs computer and administrative duties to include training, time entry, and work documentation. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Must be familiar with all types of electrical, gas, and refrigeration equipment used in the culinary profession. Ability to use the tools of the trade in which the work is to be performed. Must be able to maintain professional working relations and provide customer service to all customers. Working conditions are considered fair, but involve more than average exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as dust, chemicals, fumes, wet, etc. Will be required to be locally available for on call 24 hours a day, seven days per week on a rotational basis for emergencies as need by the department.
Position requires driving and operating a university vehicle, therefore, a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier is required.
