Food Service Team Leader
Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Food Service Team Leader to support and oversee daily food service operations within a healthcare environment. The Food Service Team Leader is responsible for supervising food service staff, ensuring meal preparation and delivery meet quality standards, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient dining operation. This role includes responsibilities such as staff direction, food and beverage preparation, equipment cleaning, and support of patient and resident meal services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in food service, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. A working knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices is essential. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to patient satisfaction and well-being by helping deliver nutritious meals in a compassionate, community-focused healthcare organization serving the Southern Tier and surrounding regions. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Food and Nutrition Services, UHS Senior Living at Ideal Primary Work Shift: Rotational Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $15.61 - $23.45 per hour, depending on experience ----- Job Responsibilities + Oversee food service staff to ensure service standards, tray accuracy, and delivery times are met while enforcing safe work practices and policy compliance + Instruct staff to complete assigned tasks and follow through on responsibilities during their shift + Collaborate with kitchen management to address concerns, evaluate menu items, and improve food presentation and service + Report employee performance concerns to management and provide input for performance appraisals + Prepare beverages, desserts, salads, and nourishments; assist with residential meal service setup + Maintain high sanitation standards in all work areas and handle food to preserve freshness and prevent foodborne illness + Set up dining rooms and serve hot meals efficiently and accurately during meal service + Deliver food items, nourishments, and supplies to appropriate units; set up and serve meals according to portion and safety standards + Perform dish room duties including scraping dishes, loading/unloading dishwashers, washing equipment, and cleaning kitchen areas + Remove trash and maintain cleanliness in all food service areas + Receive and store food and non-food deliveries properly + Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of dining rooms and service areas; restock and sanitize tables and equipment + Attend all required in-service training and departmental meetings + Uphold service delivery standards and comply with federal, state, and organizational policies and procedures + Serve on committees as assigned + Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned Position Qualifications Minimum Required: + 1 year of institutional food preparation Preferred: + Dining room and/or banquet service experience + High School Diploma or equivalent ----- Why You’ll Love Working at UHS At United Health Services (UHS), we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference.
