Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the AFB Club Coffee Shop. The purpose of this position is to prepare and service hot and cold beverages and food items from a limited coffee operation. This position is a Flexible position (flexible position DO NOT have any benefits)Intermittent (flexible) employees have no guaranteed hours but may be worked 0 to 40 hours a week. Responsibilities Incumbent is responsible for independently completing work as scheduled after initial oral or written instructions when changes or new assignments are made. Supervisor periodically checks to see that work is done on time and according to instructions. 1. Operates limited coffee operation. Prepares a limited variety of hot beverages such as cappuccinos, brewed coffee, lattes, espresso, hot chocolate, etc. by selecting proper ingredients. Serves cold beverages and food items, such as soda, juice, cookies, muffins, pastries, etc. Receives payment, operates cash register, makes and returns change to patrons. 2. Sets up work area for operation and obtains cash bank. Maintains work area in a neat and clean manner. Sets up, cleans tables for customers and replenishes condiment items as necessary. Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventative maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required. Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required such as: coffee machines, ceilings, under and behind equipment, refrigerators, washes floors and walls, sanitizes garbage cans. May unload stock from delivery trucks. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. 3. Assists with inventories, identifies items for re-ordering. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. 4. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food and beverages, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently life or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be ab le to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to pass a physical exam. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation.
