Selected applicant will have no rights under reduction in force and will be subject to displacement under a local national reduction in force Responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary. Serves food by order and proper proportion. Assembles or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes. Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients. Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Performs, a variety of duties having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Ability to understand and follow simple instructions, and be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines. Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to: 1. Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions. 2. A working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedure to prevent contamination. 3. Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. 4. Must have the ability to read and understand written material. 5. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, such as counting the number of tables in order to determine the number of portions or meals required, or how many servings a particular container will yield. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Foreign Overseas Allowances Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
