Food Services Aide

A. BASIC PURPOS

EThe Food Services Aid is to assist the Food Services Coordinator. Helping supervise and oversee all aspects and operations of the Tracy Shelter kitchen and dining hall. Under the direction of the Shelter Director, the Food Services Coordinator ensures proper nutrition and food quality, and that all health and safety standards are met. 

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with food storage, food preparation, cooking, and serving daily meals for shelter clients. 
2. Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily for service and inspections. 
3. Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers.
4. Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies
5. Have or be able to immediately acquire Serve Safe Certification for Food Handlers Permit
6. Any other duties related to your job as requested by the Supervisors and/or Officers. 
7. Cleanliness and maintain the area up to code.
8. Interaction with clients.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. At least 21 years of age
2. Willingness to accept the values of The Salvation Army
3. Training, education, and /or experience in food service management, culinary arts, quality food service, and staff supervision.
4. Interest in serving in a Christian setting. Food service experience is preferred.
5. Have a valid California Food Handler’s Card
6. Have or obtain (within 30 days) ServSafe Manager Certificate
 
D.  CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Standard Salvation Army vehicle 
2. Must be 21 years or older. 
3. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
3. Ability to reach overhead
4. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions 
 OR
5. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting
6. Ability to operate a computer
7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
