Scope of Position:

Will be responsible for providing exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times, may be assigned to work banquets, birthday parties, and the café as needed.  Maintain an organized and sanitary environment.  Implement and adhere to food codes and regulations to provide safe food and beverages to guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

Understands and practices safe food handling procedures Follows proper cleaning techniques, storing chemicals properly and labeling product appropriately Practices safety procedures, utilizes tools, equipment and protective equipment as needed; and informs Supervisor of safety hazards, equipment failures and needed repairs Sets tables and chairs as directed Provides effective customer service, offers warm and sincere greetings for all guests, and resolves guest issues promptly Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times Attends staff/department meetings as requested Follows through on lost and found procedures; no articles shall be removed from occupied rooms; absolute respect for guest property should always be exercised Reports to work on time for posted schedule and maintains accurate time records Maintains a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude; follows all dress code standards Interacts with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information

Café Duties:

Makes coffee, juice, and smoothies, replenishes and clean beverage dispensing machines Prepares sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other items using standardized recipes and ingredients Inspects items for freshness; rotates stock; wraps, labels, and dates food items properly; disposes of outdated products; and tracks and logs waste on appropriate forms Cleans and stocks refrigerated display case inside and out Checks food temperatures frequently throughout shift; documents temperatures on applicable forms; notifies Supervisor immediately of any food out of compliance Operates cash register and follows money handling procedures Maintains signage daily Checks supplies and informs kitchen staff of needed supplies

Banquet Server Duties:

Delivers food and beverage items to guests, ensuring a consistent presentation and proper temperature are maintained Offers product knowledge of food and beverage to guests Provides general information for guests and responds to guests inquires in cordial, efficient and professional manner Follows Banquet Event Orders (BEO) with strong attention to detail Communicate effectively with kitchen staff when conveying guests’ special food requests Run the dishwasher and unload when needed

Birthday Party Duties:

Ensures all parties are set up and ready to go prior to guest arrival; checks in party guests at the front desk; sets the tone of a party by providing a high level of energy and fun Delivers food and beverage items to guests, ensuring a consistent presentation and proper temperature are maintained Remains visible and available to the needs of guests Run the dishwasher, load, and unload the items when needed Cleans and resets the room in preparation for the next party according to BEO Checks supplies and informs kitchen staff of needed supplies

Physical Requirements:

Must be well groomed and adhere to the required dress code Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminishing performance Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel push, pull, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, close vision, distance vision, talk, hear, have eye-hand coordination, have manual dexterity, speak, and read English and work in noisy areas

Working Conditions:

This position may have frequent contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated.

The person in this position is part time and shifts vary based on department and facility needs.

The person in this position will work with little supervision and will be expected to work independently.

Education and Work Experience:

Must be 16 years of age or older Restaurant or food service experience preferred Customer service experience preferred

License and Certifications:
