Food Services Manager
Overview This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. The Food Services Manager manages all facets of food services for a large U.S. Government facility Life and Logistics Support Services contract located in Iraq with multiple locations. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. Responsible for managing, monitoring and tracking program food services. Responsible for allocating and managing food service staff resources according to changing needs. Identify problem areas and respond to mission requirements to perform task order requirements. Manage food services operations for all sites. Control resources; monitor food service staff proficiency and qualifications; monitor the locations and activities of food service assets; and coordinate the flow of information to and from program staff and USG representatives. Resolve program food service related issues. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Windows Computer and associated software, cell phone, two-way radio, vehicle and other office equipment. All equipment of types that require maintenance or certifications pursuant to the OBO Maintenance Standards and/or applicable code or manufacture requirements, equipment which is operated through a sequence of operations, • electronic controllers, sensors, and network devices, agency owned sensors, if applicable. Working Environment: This contract is performed in a contingency operations environment, in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this contract, the employee will regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment. Temperatures can reach 120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50 – 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform job requirements in this environment, as well as deploying to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are typically six (6) days per week and ten (10) hours per day. Physical Activities: Employees may be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors. All employees must be able to move quickly to cover during security alarms. This includes being able to lift, carry and/or wear forty (40) pounds of personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time and being capable of running during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk. All staff must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education / Certifications: An Associate’s Degree in Food and Beverage, or Hospitality field or discipline Valid driver’s license from home of record. Already possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued Secret security clearance or be able obtain a favorable USG Secret clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order. U.S. citizenship is required. Experience: Ten (10) years food services support management experience in providing such services to large non-military operations equivalent to college campus cafeterias and/or large restaurants. Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of food service activities for a comparable operation. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage food services and logistics staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. Ability to fully execute the food service duties and responsibilities. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. Good verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information. Desired: Relevant overseas facilities management experience. Previous international experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions. Experience working with Contractor.
