**Position Title:** Food Services Technician I or II

**Position Purpose:**
This position assists with planning full-scale cafeteria, coffee shop, and food operations, including daily hot meals, short order grilling, and soup/salad bar preparation. This position assist with keeping inventory and stocks food and housekeeping supplies; maintains a clean and safe working atmosphere; and follows all North Dakota Health Department standards. Work hours will range from 5:30AM through 4:00PM, working an eight-hour shift. Workdays will vary, but typically are Monday-Friday.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Assist with daily food preparation, stocking food items, and clean up for the kitchen and general seating area, which could include nearby kitchenette.
+ Prepare the daily specials. Serve food to customers, prepare snacks for meetings held within the headquarters complex, and provide catering services throughout the headquarters building.
**Qualifications** **:**
**Food Services I:**
+ One-year culinary arts program and one year of related service/preparation experience in a coffee shop and/or food industry; or
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and two years of related service/preparation experience in a coffee shop and/or food industry.
**Food Services II:**
+ One-year culinary arts program and four years of related service/preparation experience in a coffee shop and/or food industry; or
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and five years of related service/preparation experience in a coffee shop and/or food industry.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
+ A valid driver’s license.
+ Resume required.

**Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:**
This position requires continuous standing, walking, stooping/bending, and lifting/carrying up to ten pounds; frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds; and occasional sitting, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, crawling, and use of keyboard/computer. The incumbent operates equipment, including stoves, ovens, dishwasher, meat slicers, mixers, cutting knives, electric can openers, popcorn machine, and other equipment needed to operate the cafeteria. This position requires good hearing, color vision, finger dexterity, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. The incumbent must be able to weigh and measure. This position frequently operates in areas of extreme heat; and occasionally works in areas of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, cold, vibration, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and at heights of three to six feet. The incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
