Football Performance Applied Science Assistant


University of Virginia Football is a highly competitive FBS Power Four program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Football Performance Applied Science Assistant to support the department's Football program.

Under the direction of the Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach, this position is primarily responsible for commitment to the Head Football Coach’s program vision.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Assist with implementation of all applied science efforts and related duties for the football program.Implement Catapult system.Assist with management of daily duties of applied science students and interns.Generate applied science analysis reports.Follow all rules of the NCAA, ACC, and University of Virginia.Perform other duties as assigned to achieve the objectives and goals of the Football program, Department of Athletics, and University.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Ability and desire to perform accurate, detail-oriented work.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to make sound judgments independently and/or as a team member.Ability to instruct, counsel, and direct student-athletes.Ability to support coaches and staff members.

The internship is intended to begin in the Winter or Spring of 2025.

Anticipated hiring rate: $15.00/hour

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diplomaExperience: Some experience in a field related to athletics performance is required.Computer Applications: Intermediate knowledge of computers and software: Microsoft Office.  The ability to lift various training equipment and technologies regularly.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to data science and/or exercise science.Experience: Experience in data analytics and implementation of applied science technology.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
