Footwear Designer

OVERVIEW:
Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Designer to join the Footwear based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
+ Research current trends & applies trends to product design.
+ Ability to sketch both technical drawings and freeform renderings, and provide detailed specifications
+ Ability to develop solutions to complex design problems
+ Experience developing product directly with factories; understanding of development from concept through engineering
+ Understanding of materials, hardware, leather, and footwear construction required
+ Just be able to build all tech packs and pass specs in a detailed, organized and clear manner for factory proto-sample-making
+ Assist and participate in fit sessions
+ Work on multiple projects with different deadlines, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date spec sheets in the PLM system.
+ Understand the Marc Jacobs Customer and brand positioning to ensure design alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Art or Fashion (Design, Merchandising, etc.)
+ 5+ years design experience.
+ Excellent taste level & brand awareness.
+ Strong sense of color, fashion, product & trend.
+ Strong knowledge of design & product development process.
+ Strong written & verbal communication skills.
+ Must provide digital portfolio of work
SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER:
The compensation for this position ranges from $95,000-$105,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
