Position Summary  

This position is responsible for supervising the patch crew and  operations on both public and private work to ensure the highest quality product and service. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt or similar material to form surfaces of highways, streets, parking lots and driveways.  

Responsibilities  

Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the taskProvides overall on-site leadership on a construction project siteParticipates and promotes the safety cultureProvides direction, training and assistance to an asphalt crewMeasures slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts and to supervise the jobCommunicates daily with Project Manager or Project Superintendent to discuss schedule and production needsCompletes paperwork including daily crew time sheets, daily site evaluation sheets, weekly toolbox safety meeting sheets and other required paperworkCommunicates and works effectively with state and local agencies; inspectors; contractors; subcontractors, company management and employeesCompletes projects in a timely, accurate and safe mannerOperates other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habitsHas a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt pavingSelf-motivated and eager to learn new skillsPerform well in a “TEAM” environmentAbility to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistencyWilling to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as neededCommunicate effectively, both written and verballyBasic mathematical skillsAbility to detect and solve problemsValid driver license is requiredPass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Minimum Education and Experience  

3-5 years of industry experience requiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent required 

Physical Requirements & Conditions  

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noiseAbility to lift 75 poundsMust be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Compensation: Starting at $32.37. Starting wages depend on knowledge, skills and experience.
