Job Summary
The Foreman is accountable for the crew meeting production goals, understanding cost reports and projections, tracking material quantities, and resolving order discrepancies. He or she is responsible for planning daily and weekly activities of the crew, accurately reporting progress and production, and providing updated schedules. The Foreman will be responsible for planning and managing a crew dedicated to various construction activities across a project. The Drainage Foreman is responsible for installing storm sewer pipes, boxes, and concrete structures.
Essential Functions
Manage and direct crew to meet production goals. Read and interpret plans and project specifications. Understands daily production costs and production cost reports. Track material quantities and resolve discrepancies with orders. Interact with owners, clients, managers, subcontractors, and employees and maintain positive working relationships. Execute the work plan by effectively managing crew and equipment. Manage daily timekeeping logs and equipment logs, as well as complete daily reports and diaries. Educate and train crew on safety, production goals, and equipment maintenance. Use positive reinforcement as a form of discipline, as well as to educate, train, enforce company policies, and meet production goals. Ensure operation safety and use disciplinary actions as needed to maintain safety. Report Injuries and damages to appropriate personnel. Ensure good housekeeping through toolbox talks, safety meetings, etc. Keep track of work tools, trailers, and other resources and take steps to limit vandalism. Plan crew's daily and weekly activities, accurately report progress and production and provide schedule updates. Knowledge of rigging and load charts. Ensure ZCC policies are followed. Perform general labor duties as needed. Read and interpret plans and specifications, with expert knowledge of sloping, grading, and concrete installation. Knowledge of mass dirt excavations, soil mechanics, shoring, and trench boxes. Knowledge of RCP, HDPE, Box Culverts, and Cylinder types. Knowledge of laser setup. Knowledge of earthwork equipment operating knowledge and the ability to train employees. Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties. Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified applicants for available positions. Involved in all other personnel actions such as disciplining, promotions, demotions, and terminations. Plan and perform complex or technical work requiring sound judgment and some decision-making authority.

Required Skills & Experience
5 years of previous heavy highway road construction experience Ability to read/understand plans/cut stakes offsets Ability to calculate and verify grades on plans Must be flexible and able to work day, night, and/or weekend shifts as required Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented Strong verbal and written communication skills Must be dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented Must be able to work outside 90% of the time and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Experience with Mobile Timecard a plus, not required
